Do you just not know where to start when it comes to small business ideas? It’s possible to be an entrepreneur at heart and still be unsure how to build a business. The best advice I can give you is to focus on your passion. You should always consider your passions first when you think of starting a business.

Your next move should be to brainstorm how you can spin that passion into a profitable business.

There is nothing new under the sun, my friends. You can bet that someone has already blazed a trail in business involving your passion. For example, let’s say you are an artist. You draw, paint, or participate in theatre. The arts are a $150 billion a year business. That is a more than viable industry in which to establish business and grab your piece of that pie.

Whatever you’re into, a little bit of research will yield dozens of ideas on how to turn that into ideas for starting a business. Try it.

Just in case you’re having trouble coming up with a few small business concepts you could spin into a successful business, I’ve put together this list. I’m confident that you will find something that resonates with you from this list of small business ideas.

• Coaching – Do you love to inspire people? If you have a knack for leading and teaching people how to be successful in life, then coaching might be a great avenue for you to pursue. I’m partial to this model myself.

• Consultant – Do you have knowledge about something that a lot of people need to know? Consulting with businesses and/or customers is a great way to share your knowledge while helping others build their business. The going rate for such knowledge isn’t so bad either. The median pay for an IT consultant is $70,000 to $75,000.

• Ecommerce – If a brick and mortar store sounds like too much trouble, maybe an ecommerce store would be the perfect solution. There are so many options available for creating an online store and stocking it with products that surely one of them would work for you. Ecommerce is expected to exceed $2 trillion in the next few years. Even if you chose a different business model, it’s not that difficult to spin your passion into an ecommerce solution at a later date.

• Blogger – Back in the early 2000’s, blogging emerged onto the scene. Along with it came a few guys who dominated the medium and got very rich pretty quickly. They’re still around, but not as prominent as they once were because it’s really not that difficult to monetize a blog. The knowledge on how to do so is more widespread these days, but we’ll always look back at Shoemoney holding that big Adsense check with stars in our eyes.

• Freelancer – This is an open door to many skills that you can offer as services. Freelancing can range from design to writing to editing. The list goes on and on. Whether you work online or in print, a lot of people make a very good living as their own boss. Starting with a skill you already know is the easiest way to generate income online.
